Pat Swoboda
/Pat Swoboda is a bassist living and performing in New York City, originally from South Kingstown, Rhode Island. Comfortable on both upright and electric in any style or genre, Swoboda lives a diverse musical life. An ardentsupporter of new music, Swoboda is a founding member of the new music trio Bearthoven as well as bassist for the New York bassed contemporary chamber orchestra Contemporaneous. Swoboda is also the bassist for Cuneiform Records’ punk-jazz ensemble Gutbucket.
The quartet’s newest record, recorded live over the course of a week at The Stone is set for release in the fall of 2015. As an orchestral player, Swoboda performs regularly as principal bass of the American Symphony Orchestra, as well as with the New York Pops Orchestra and the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra. Performance highlights include the Bang on a Can Marathon, the MATA festival and the Bard Music Festival. He holds both a BM and an MM from NYU’s Steinhardt School.
